Greater West Jakarta

West Jakarta is generally considered to be less developed than other areas of the capital, but that is changing as developers focus on building up the once neglected area. It is the one area of the city that does not fall under the moratorium for new malls, which is why new shopping centers such as Neo Soho are still opening there. West Jakarta includes part of the old Chinatown area of Glodok which should be of interest to tourists looking to experience a different side of Jakarta. It also houses Mangga Dua, an area of the city known for bargain shopping. The subdistricts of West Jakarta include Cengkareng, Grogol Petamburan, Kalideres, Kebon Jeruk, Kembangan, Palmerah and Tambora.
