Greater East Jakarta

East Jakarta is a city within the Special Capital Region of Jakarta and the most populous amongst Jakarta’s five cities with an estimated population of around 2.6 million. The  East Jakarta’s mayor’s office is located in Jatinegara, one of the oldest areas of Jakarta which still has several colonial era buildings. Jakarta’s second commercial airport, Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport, is also located in East Jakarta and has seen increasing service since 2014 when more domestic flights were relocated to Halim to take the burden off of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The 10 subdistricts of East Jakarta are Matraman, Pulo Gadung, Jatinegara, Duren Sawit, Kramat Jati, Makasar, Pasar Rebo, Ciracas, Cipayung and Cakung.
