Remember the viral hit I Love You 3000 by Indonesian singer Stephanie Poetri, with lyrics that may sound like a romantic misappropriation of the tear-jerking tender moment between Tony Stark and his daughter Morgan in Avengers: Endgame?
After joining music label and creative agency 88rising in August, the 19-year-old singer re-released the duet version of the song featuring Jackson Wang, the Hong Kong member of K-pop boyband Got7. Now titled I Love You 3000 II, the song is included in the label-wide album Head in the Clouds II, which was released last weekend.
There are several changes in the lyrics, most notably in the intro, where “Baby take my hand, I want you to be my husband” became less lovey-dovey as, “Baby, take my hand, I want you to be my best friend.”
The ‘80s-themed music video for the song was released last night, showing Stephanie and Jackson being total BFFs by doing crafts, decorating a cake, and singing karaoke together. Towards the end, Stephanie and Jackson don the Iron Man costume.
Stephanie, daughter of Indonesian diva Titi DJ, shot to fame thanks to the hit single I Love You 3000 and its music video, which has already been viewed 44 million times on Youtube since its release in June.
Since then, Stephanie has made a big move (literally) in her career. In August, she took to the stage for the second edition of the Head in the Clouds festival in LA organized by 88rising — the label behind Indonesia’s celebrated rapper Rich Brian and R&B singer-songwriter Nicole Zefanya AKA NIKI as well as former internet personality-turned R&B and trip-hop Japanese singer Joji, among others.
Head in the Clouds II album features the label’s artists collaborating with international acts, such as Rich Brian with K-pop singer Chung Ha in These Nights, NIKI and Thai singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit in Strange Land, and Joji with Jackson Wang, Jamaican-American electronic dance music trio Major Lazer and American rapper Swae Lee in Walking.
