Jakarta’s biggest food festival is back this weekend with all sorts of tasty treats to offer guests seeking great gastronomic experiences. This Feastival is set in two tents flanking both sides of Senayan City mall: the Fork Tent featuring all things desserts and coffee as well as workshops, masterclasses and a marketplace showcasing F&B businesses; and the Spoon Tent, which houses a curated stands from a select group of restaurants and 20 of Go-Food’s most popular partners. There’s also Chef’s Table experiences, talkshows, cooking demos, bar takeovers, music performance and more. Admission is free. For more info

The world’s biggest whisky event is coming to Jakarta for the first time this weekend. Taking place at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, entry to this spirited event comes with free unlimited tastings of over 100 whiskies from all over the world. For those who want to learn more about the wonders of whiskey, there will be masterclasses by international experts as well as craft cocktails from some of the region’s best mixologists, an art exhibition by Vivi Yip Gallery and a jazz performance by Marcell Siahaan. Tari Paguno is a dance performance designed to show the traditions and culture of West Sumatra’s Minangkabau people and community as part of the Sikambang Manih Art Studio’s mission to both preserve and revitalize traditional Minangkabau arts. Tari Paguno is being performed this Sunday at Galeri Indonesia Kaya in Grand Indonesia. The performance is free but you need to reserve a seat through the Galeri Indonesia Kaya website. Fall under the spell of legendary trance DJ Paul Van Dyke (Fri)

If you are a fan of trance music (or even just know what it is) you’ve probably heard of Paul Van Dyk. One of the first true superstar DJs, the German producer is also the first artist to receive a Grammy Award in the Best Dance/Electronic album category when it was introduced in 2003. He was also named the world’s number one DJ in both 2005 and 2006 and has sold millions of  albums worldwide. He’ll be gracing the decks of Colosseum this Friday.

The Other Festival is all about highlighting the Jakarta music collectives that have helped shape the local scene and provided the soundtrack for innumerable awesome parties. In addition to cream of the crop from collectives such as Double Deer, Studiorama, Noisewhore and Mayhem, there will also be talkshows, workshops, art installation and more at Hotel Monopli in Kemang this weekend.  For more info
