After hitting the scene in 2010, Andhim quickly became one of the country’s top-rated DJ duos. Their sound, which they self-describe as “Super House”, has become its very own genre with a unique appeal that is party proven. They’ll be hitting Jenja, the South Jakarta sister to one of Bali’s hottest clubs, this Friday night.

Lengger Laut  (Saturday)

Lengger Laut is one of young choreographer Otniel Tasman’s most celebrated works, having been performed around the world at venues such as the DeSingel Theater in Belgium for the Europalia Festival 2017. Otniel’s works are deeply rooted in the traditions of his native Banyumas in Central Java.




His works investigate in particular the lengger lanang dance, a fertility dance traditionally performed by men that, in recent decades, has increasingly been performed by women due to moral concerns. Lengger Laut will be performed on Saturday at 3pm at Galeri Kaya Indonesia located inside Grand Indonesia. Seats are free but reservations through their online system is recommended. Enam Belas Film Festival (Starts Sunday)

The Enam Belas Film Festival is being held in Jakarta as part of the global gender and sexual-based anti-violence campaign known as 16 Days of Activism. They will be screening 16 great films and documentaries dealing with related themes including Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts,  Siti, Mereka Bilang Saya Monyet! and a Copy of My Mind with the goal of getting more people to discuss the issues they raise. Thanksgiving Super Brunch at the Dharmawangsa (Sunday)

You don’t have to be an American in order to indulge in some crazy feasting to celebrate Thanksgiving. While plenty of restaurants and hotels are holding special Thanksgiving dinners and brunches, The Dharmawangsa Jakarta’s bi-annual Super Brunch this Sunday is a tradition in and of itself, reveling in pure gastronomic indulgence. This edition will be Thanksgiving themed so of course the traditional turkey (with foccacia sausage stuffing and sage gravy) will be on hand, but there’ll be so much more including Lobster Martinis, Roasted Lamb Shortloin Saddle, 200 Days Grainfed Roasted Beef OP Ribs as well as a wide selection of AOC cheeses and decadent desserts. You can get all that with free-flow champagne to boot. There’s also fun activities for kids as well as a live band playing jazzy tunes .

Jakarta Street Art Festival

Once considered low-class, street art has become one of the art world’s hottest categories. This event at Lippo Mall Puri promises a special exhibition of original works by some of the biggest names in the genre including Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Invader, Mr Brainwash, Blek le Rat, Stormie Mills and Kyle Hughes-Odgers. There will also be live painting sessions, seminars, film screenings, workshops and live entertainment. Festival goes until December 24.
