The wait is finally over, the Asian Games are here! The second biggest multi-sport competition in the world after the Olympics will kick off this Saturday with a star-studded opening ceremony followed with competitions in 40 different events until the closing ceremony on September 2. Even if that phrase doesn’t fill you with morbid culinary curiosity (like us), if the idea of chocolate-covered wafers topped with flavors like martabak or es doger intrigue you, then you may want to check out KitKat’s Chocolatory pop up in Kota Kasablanka mall, going until August 26. The pop up’s concept allows customers to create their own customized candy by mixing and match from a lengthy list of KitKat types (such as the matcha variant) and toppings (including plenty more uniquely Indonesian flavors as well as conventional ones). Get to know Indonesia’s national symbol, the Garuda, in a whole new way at Galeri Nasional
The perfect exhibition for those looking for some art with a dose of patriotic pride this Independence Day weekend. The Garuda Journey exhibition at Galeri Nasional, going until August 28, features 32 works of art, including sculptures, paintings, installations, batik and photography, detailing the history and evolution of the mythical Garuda bird as a symbol of Indonesia, including an exploration of its meaning among older and younger Indonesians.
