Come share your dreams on the giant Living Walls at Citos in support of children’s palliative care charity Rachel House (Fri-Sun)

Right now there are close to 700,000 children across Indonesia living with serious illnesses and in pain. Less than one per cent of these children currently have access to palliative care services. To mark International Children’s Palliative Care Day this Friday, Rachel House, an awesome charity that helps provide palliative care to children from marginalized communities with end-stage cancer and HIV/AIDS, is constructing a series of giant blackboard cubes in the atrium of CITOS (Cilandak Town Square) mall and inviting people to write what they would do “If I had one more day to live…”

The concept, inspired by the “Before I Die” walls that have appeared in cities all over the world over the past decade, invites Jakartans to reflect on the preciousness of every day and to recognize that there are seriously ill children who may not live to see tomorrow. Join a charity workout to help raise money for Putu (Saturday)

https://www.facebook.com/jakartamysteryguide/posts/1949923078597120

In early September a Balinese woman named Putu suffered a horrific act of domestic violence at the hands of her husband who used a machete to try to cut off both her feet. Putu was immediately rushed to the hospital where one of her feet had to be amputated. Her case has become emblematic of the hidden epidemic of domestic violence in Indonesia.

On October 14th, at 4pm there will be a special fundraiser workout at Bengkel Crossfit to raise money for Putu’s KitaBisa crowdfunding campaign and help cover the school fees and housing cost for Putu and her two children. Anyone can sign up. To encourage participation, competition and maximize donations, they are using a unique collection format. It will be a team workout with three people per team, with a minimum of one female. Registration will be Rp 500,000 per team, half of which will be for donation and half will be the prize for the top team score of the day. Additionally, teams may voluntary raise and donate additional funds for the charitable cause. These funds will only go toward supporting Putu, not toward the prize. The team with the single highest additional donation will be awarded a special head start on the workout as an additional twist for the event.
For moe info head to the FB event page. You can also contribute directly to Putu’s crowdfunding  campaign by going to https://kitabisa.com/bantuputu
