Come share your dreams on the giant Living Walls at Citos in support of children’s palliative care charity Rachel House (Fri-Sun)

Right now there are close to 700,000 children across Indonesia living with serious illnesses and in pain. Less than one per cent of these children currently have access to palliative care services. To mark International Children’s Palliative Care Day this Friday, Rachel House, an awesome charity that helps provide palliative care to children from marginalized communities with end-stage cancer and HIV/AIDS, is constructing a series of giant blackboard cubes in the atrium of CITOS (Cilandak Town Square) mall and inviting people to write what they would do “If I had one more day to live…”

The concept, inspired by the “Before I Die” walls that have appeared in cities all over the world over the past decade, invites Jakartans to reflect on the preciousness of every day and to recognize that there are seriously ill children who may not live to see tomorrow. We’re a long way from Germany but there’s no reason you can’t get in on the Octoberfest fun here in Jakarta. Several venues are holding Octoberfest related events this month but Pizza e Birra’s Oktobeerfest is definitely intriguing since it includes free flow beer for the very reasonable Rp 160k ticket price. Besides beer there will also be plenty of food, games and great bands playing including The Brandals, Stars and Rabbits and The Sigit. Oktobeerfest runs Saturday and Sunday from 2-11pm at Gandaria City. For tickets and more info go to: http://www.ismaya.com/tickets
