Rock out to the psychedelic sounds of Tame Impala (Friday night)

One of the hottest and most critically acclaimed Australian bands touring today, psych-rockers Tame Impala are hitting the stage of Parkir Selatan Senayan tonight. They played Jakarta once before in 2011 and have also thrilled audiences at festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza and countless others. Tickets start at Rp 750k. See the works of Indonesia’s art teachers in the spotlight at “ALUR”

Art teachers not only train their students in the art of expression, they are also expert creators as well. At the “ALUR” (“Flow”) exhibition at the National Gallery of Indonesia, you can see a curated selection of artwork from 65 of Indonesia’s finest art teachers from 17 different provinces. Works on display include paintings, sculptures, installations, comics, ceramics, batik, and multimedia pieces.

 

See the French take on shadow puppets at “L’Oiseau”  (Saturday night)
 

The annual festival put on by the Indonesia Francais Institute, Printemps Français, just kicked off on Wednesday with a very unique shadow puppet show called “L’Oiseau” (“The Bird”), created by French shadow puppet group Les Remoulers in collaboration with local artists in Yogyakarta. After the premier in Yogya, “L’Oiseau” will next be performed in Jakarta on Saturday night at 7pm at Plaza Senayan. The performance is free to the public. Party with Youtube sensation Rich Chigga at Hide & Seeks 1st anniversary celebration (Saturday night)

For the 1st anniversary of Hide & Seek’s Down & Dirty event, they got none other than Brian Immanuel aka Rich Chigga, the Youtube comedian whose song “Dat $tick” has become a huge viral hit with over 2.6 million views! This’ll be Rich Chigga’s first performance in his hometown of Jakarta.
