In case you’re not aware of this already, we here at Coconuts Jakarta appreciate having a no-nonsense and quotable governor like Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama to lead our beloved Jakarta.
But how did Ahok become the person that he is today? Well, the answer to that may be found in a set of old photos from Ahok’s past, which has recently surfaced and gone viral on social media.
These photos capture Ahok’s life journey from cute wee baby to budding politician to eventually becoming the governor of Indonesia’s capital.
Most of the pics are pretty ordinary childhood photos, but this one in particular caught our attention:
That is the stare of one determined boy. It’s like, even back then, Ahok had already set his sights on leading Jakarta and turning it into the city we all deserve.
Well, we’re hoping the photos won’t end here and that there’ll be more of them as Ahok’s political career progresses. Perhaps one day we’ll see photos of President Ahok?
