Suite Revenge: Wife fined for breaking into hotel room, assaulting husband’s mistress

A mainland woman was slapped with a HK$2,000 (US$255) fine today over an excursion to catch her cheating husband in a Kowloon love shack that quickly descended into an enraged wrestling match following a bid to strip her romantic rival naked and film the woman on her phone.

According to Ming Pao, Long Yiji married her husband in 2013, and the couple had a daughter together, but the marriage reportedly started losing its spark in 2017 — particularly after Long found out that her husband was seeing another woman.

In November of 2017, Long, a two-way entry permit-holder, discovered her husband was going to see his mistress in Hong Kong and decided to follow — along with a group of her friends and relatives. When the group arrived at the Pentahotel in Kowloon, they stormed into the husband’s room to find him and his mistress naked.

According to on.cc, when the woman grabbed a towel to preserve what was left of her modesty, Long tried to yank it away and film the woman with her smartphone. As the mistress tried to fend her off, Long grabbed her and dragged her to the floor.

For reasons that remain unclear, however, the husband waited a good seven months before reporting the incident to the police last June.

Long, 29, pleaded guilty today to one count of common assault during her first trial appearance at Kowloon City Magistrates’ Court.

In a mitigating statement to the courtroom, Long’s lawyer said she has been looking after the couple’s daughter, and was worried about who would take care of the young girl if she was jailed. (Unsurprisingly, Long has separated from her husband and is currently filing for divorce.)

Magistrate Joseph To decided to hand Long a HK$2,000 fine after taking into account the fact that the victim was not seriously injured in the incident, that no actual blows were traded, and that the incident occurred because of a breakdown in a marriage.
