Wan Chai church construction site ‘rains concrete slurry’ down on 6 cars waiting at a traffic light

Six unlucky drivers waiting for the lights to change in Wan Chai got an impromptu paint job for their cars yesterday when they were accidentally sprayed by concrete.

The incident occurred at around 2pm when concrete slurry suddenly shot through the scaffolding on the fifth floor of a church construction site and rained down on six cars waiting for the lights to change at the junction of Queen’s Road East and Kennedy Road, i-Cable News reports

The “concrete rain” fell for roughly 10 to 20 seconds and splashed onto three Mercedes Benzes, a BMW, a taxi, and a seven-seater van.

The BMW bore the brunt of the damage and appeared to be coated pretty extensively in the grey sludge, accidentally achieving a trendy matte finish… three years too late.

One of the Mercedes Benz drivers was taken to hospital after her window burst from being hit by the slurry, and the falling glass cut her hand.

The foreman from the site was taken to the police station for questioning. A source told Apple Daily that the “engineering error” was caused by a worker who got a little overzealous whilst grouting.

Some of the cars was cleaned by the construction site workers. However, at least one of the vehicles left still covered in concrete, as is demonstrated by this photo taken on the Eastern Corridor later that afternoon:
