UPDATE: HKU is going to conduct a “thorough investigation” into the incident.

A video which appears to show University of Hong Kong (HKU) students sexually assaulting a fellow student went viral on Hong Kong social media today.

The video, which was uploaded to Facebook at around noon, shows two young men holding another man face down on a bed, whilst a fourth man – wearing a Chemistry HKU jumper and no trousers – puts his genitalia on the victim’s forehead, to the laughter of his peers.

In the 19-second clip, a man can be heard saying in Cantonese, “So fucking cool!” before another says, “Hit them onto his face and then ride [his face]. Hit them onto his face.” Multiple different profanities are used throughout the video, and one person can be heard repeatedly saying, “Hey, this is really cool”.

The victim appears distressed in the video, and can be seen struggling to cover his face and neck.

The footage, which has been shared widely on Hong Kong social media and by local Chinese-language news publications, has been viewed thousands of times since 12pm. While multiple netizens and news outlets have alleged that the video was filmed at the university’s Simon K.Y. Lee Hall on Pok Fu Lam Road, Coconuts Hong Kong has not been able to immediately verify the claim.
