Two men have been arrested for trafficking dangerous drugs after they were found with 52 kilograms of cocaine, worth HKD43 million, in a parking lot in Fanling.
Acting on a tip, police went to an outdoor parking lot at Luen Fu Street at around 4pm on Saturday, and found the men, aged 27 and 51, carrying two kilograms of cocaine as they were getting into a seven-seater. The remaining 50 kilograms were found inside boxes in the vehicle, Apple Daily reports.
Narcotics bureau superintendent Ng Wing-sze said the drugs were believed to have been smuggled to Hong Kong from South America and Southeast Asia, ready to be sold in the city during the upcoming Easter holidays.
