The shocking case of an 18-year-old man stabbing his 15-year-old boyfriend in the neck has been reclassified from wounding to attempted murder.

In the early hours of today, police issued a statement to say the case had been reclassified following investigation.

At about 1.15am yesterday, police received a report from a 38-year-old woman that her 15-year-old son, surnamed Lo, was assaulted and locked from inside their flat in Kwan Tei, Sheung Shui, after he got into a dispute with his boyfriend, an 18-year-old man surnamed Lau. Police rushed to the scene and, after firemen broke down the door, found that Lo had been tied to a chair and sustained serious and multiple knife injuries to his neck and arms.

Lau was also injured, having stabbed himself in the neck. Both teens were conscious and were rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital. Police seized a 20-centimetre-long fruit knife and some articles of clothing from the scene as evidence.

Police arrested Lau at scene for wounding and he is being detained for further enquiries. An investigation by the District Crime Squad of Tai Po District is underway.

Yesterday morning, HK01 reported that one of the boys was moved to the intensive care unit after his wounds wouldn’t stop bleeding.
