If you are fed up with sad stories about children being bullied at school or overladen with homework, here’s a welcome relief: a story about a caring gesture from a teacher to the parents of her students.
A photo posted on a Facebook group yesterday shows two notes stuck onto a teabag and a wrapped candy. The person who posted the photo, surnamed Leung, said: “Usually the teachers encourage the students, but this one is encouraging the parents. This teacher is very thoughtful.”
According to hk01, the Post-it note — signed by a teacher surnamed Tan — said: “When you are cheering for your sons and daughters during the exam period, let us support you 🙂 have a sip of tea and appreciate your children’s efforts.”
A separate piece of paper attached to the candy had the words: “Work hard! Add oil!”
“Add oil” (In Cantonese pronounced “gar yau”) is used to cheer someone on.
The small gesture prompted positive reactions from netizens who made comments such as: “The students in her class must be lucky,” “such a sweet teacher,” and “cheer for good teachers.”
