A man who was captured in a viral video skateboarding on a road in Sha Tin, narrowly escaping an accident after falling off the board, was arrested Monday.
The 18-year-old is suspected of driving without a valid license, driving an unlicensed vehicle, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance, and driving a motorcycle without a protective helmet.
The arrest was made after the widely circulated dashcam footage sparked police investigation. Dated Aug. 10, the clip shows a man tailing a double decker and, 25 seconds in, falling off the electric skateboard as the bus in front of him slows.
Left lying in the middle of the road, the man narrowly escaped an accident as there were no cars immediately behind him.

The road that he was skateboarding on, Tai Chung Kiu Road, is known as an accident black spot. There were two crashes on the road in June alone, involving a minibus accident that killed the driver and a school bus collision that injured 24 people.
In 2019, a lawmaker asked the transport chief about whether it would consider lowering the speed limit on the road given the number of serious traffic accidents that have occurred at junctions along it.
The man was released on the bail and will have to report back to police in September.
