Shut up and kiss me: Woman, 67, tried for ‘assaulting’ 20-year-old over mid-argument smooch

Kiss and make up. It’s a common enough expression in coupledom.

But an attempt to kiss and get out has been met with criminal charges following an allegedly unasked-for smooch planted by a Hong Kong woman on a younger man in an apparent attempt to escape an uncomfortable political argument.

The woman, a single retiree surnamed Ng, was today tried on one count of indecent assault and two counts of physical assault over the incident, which took place at Hoi La Estate in Cheung Sha Wan, according to Headline Daily.

On Sept. 5, Ng was purportedly embroiled in an argument with a 20-year-old man and his female friend over politics in a park in at the estate.

According to the prosecution, Ng was looking for a way out of the argument, but found herself obstructed by the two young people. So, in an effort to utilize the element of surprise, she allegedly planted a wet one on the young man, hoping the resulting confusion would give her the opportunity to escape.

Unfortunately for her, it wasn’t to be: the smacker allegedly resulted in a physical altercation between the two, witnessed by the aforementioned female friend.

The case was heard today at the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Court, and a verdict is due on Feb. 7.

Until then, Ng remains out on bail.
