A police officer has pleaded guilty to taking more than 1,600 upskirt photos of a number of women.

According to Headline Daily, 27-year-old Chu Ho-lap today admitted to one count of outraging public decency, and 19 counts of access to a computer with dishonest intent at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court.

The newspaper reports that Chu used his iPhone 6+ to take upskirt photos, and that the victims included one of his female colleagues at Yau Ma Tei police station.

Officers found 1,628 upskirt photos and 290 videos taken between July to October last year of a number of different women at 311 different locations. The faces of some of the victims were visible in the shots.

In mitigating statements, the defense urged the magistrate to be more sympathetic, saying Chu had been going through a lot of personal and financial changes in his life.

The defense added that Chu was suffering from depression, and was unable to control any impulsive or anti-social behaviours as a result of this.

The case has been adjourned until August 13, as the court waits for a background report on the defendant before sentencing.
