Got him.

Police on the weekend arrested a escaped prisoner, who gave officers the slip by climbing through the ceiling of a hospital bathroom.

Fugitive Leon Li, 34, was found near a Wan Chai about 8pm on Saturday, some 36 hours after escaping from Queen Mary hospital in Pok Fu Lam, police announced at a press conference on the weekend.

He has since been charged with escaping legal custody.

Two other men, believed to have been involved with the escape, were also arrested senior inspector Tsang Hin-chiu told reporters.

The two men came from the mainland and are surnamed Zhan and Song, 31 and 33-years-old respectively, HK01 reported. The pair have been detained on suspicion of assisting someone to escape legal custody.

Li, who escaped on Thursday, is reported to be involved with about 18 medical technology companies in the mainland, according to Apple Daily.

He had, in fact, been on the run since 2015, when he skipped bail after being detained and charged for possessing a fake identity card.

He was re-arrested on Wednesday at the airport after trying to enter Hong Kong on a Dominican Republic passport.

He was taken to hospital after telling officers he suffered AIDS and felt sick. After escaping on Friday morning about 8:30am he reportedly headed to Wan Chai in a taxi.

A police source told the SCMP Li — who was taken to Wan Chai police station for questioning — was staying on the 11th floor of the Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel.

According to Tsang, officers scoured CCTV footage to track Li’s movements.

While on the run, the suspect met two Chinese men at the hotel. After identifying the pair, police arrested one on Friday night at the airport, detaining him on suspicion of assisting others to escape from legal custody.

Police then waited at the hotel for Li and the other man who, when confronted, attempted to run from officers. They were soon apprehended and the officers who made the arrest received slight injuries in the process, Tsang told reporters.

Tsang said police believed Li received help following his escape. He obtained a change of clothes and someone had booked a room at the hotel. Prior to his escape, a man reportedly attempted to give Li pills while he was in police custody at Central Police Station, the SCMP reported.

Questions surround whether police followed procedure in guarding Li at the hospital after a patient reported that he had not been handcuffed when he went to the bathroom.

Following the breakout, several outlets have also picked up on Li’s multiple business ties.

The SCMP reported that he is the second-biggest shareholder in China Environmental Technology Holdings, which is listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
