The nominations for the 2018 Golden Globes have just been announced, with Stranger Things picking up a nomination for best drama television series, and a best actor nomination for David Harbour, who plays police chief Jim Hopper in the show. But what’s that (not as impressive as you might think) honor compared to the fact that the show has grabbed the top spot as the most-binged show in Hong Kong?

The ’80s supernatural fantasy show beat to the top spot 13 Reasons Why, which is based on a young adult book about a teenage girl who leaves a suicide note in the form of 13 cassette tapes.
Other shows that were binged by Hongkongers include A Series of Unfortunate Events, Riverdale, and Star Trek: Discovery (which stars Hong Kong action star and former Bond girl Michelle Yeoh).
In other interesting Hong Kong data: Typhoon Khanun brought the highest number of hours streamed on Netflix for a particular day; about 47% of viewers were enhanced via TVs sporting 4K, HDR, or Dolby Atmos quality; and the average Hongkonger proved some of the world’s fastest bingers, knocking out their favorite programs in just three days compared to four globally.
The one statistic that intrigued Coconuts Hong Kong the most, however, is that one person in Hong Kong watched The Angry Birds Movie a total of 97 times (Is this person you? Let us know).
Netflix also carried out a survey titled “the shows that got us cheating,” the results of which are based on a 60,000 survey responses in October of shows that you just had to watch ahead of your loved ones because you could not wait.
Stranger Things and 13 Reasons Why featured in the top five of that list, but they were beaten out by Black Mirror, the dark science-fiction series about modern society and the possible consequences of new technology.
Other shows in the top 10 list of shows that got Hongkongers cheating include Narcos, Iron Fist, and The Crown.
The movie-streaming service found that Netflix users across the Asia pacific are using between three to five different internet-connected devices.
The video-streaming service also found that its 109 millions members around the world watched 140 million hours of Netflix per day, that is 1 billion hours per week globally.
