Police have arrested a man on a suspected arson charge after he set a fire outside his neighbor’s door following a noise dispute.
The 61-year-old man, surnamed Keung and a resident at The Beaumount apartment complex in Tseung Kwan O, reportedly had an argument with his neighbor.
After that, the two went separate ways back into their homes. At around 2am, the 48-year-old neighbor, surnamed Wong, smelled something odd.
She opened her front door and spotted burn marks at her entrance.
Her male neighbor is believed to have used a lighter and flammable liquid to set fire to newspaper outside her door, and put out the fire before leaving, police said.
Nobody was injured during the incident, and the case has been brought to the Tseung Kwan O criminal investigation unit for handling.
