Man arrested for entering ‘suicide pact’ with wife and planning to ‘murder’ 11-year-old daughter

Yesterday the police arrested a 41-year-old man in Tai Po in connection to a case involving a “conspiracy to commit murder” and a “suicide pact”, according to a government press release.

It is suspected that the man and his 40-year-old wife attempted to commit suicide by burning charcoal inside a flat on Wan Wah Street in Wong Tai Sin at 3am on Feb. 3. No one was injured, according to the police.

Two days later, on Feb. 5, a woman, 44, reported her suspicions to the police.

A police investigation uncovered a pack of charcoal, suicide notes, and a “burnt basin” that were believed to be used in connection to the case.

The man was arrested in a hospital in Tai Po yesterday afternoon and is currently being detained for further investigation by the Wong Tai Sin District Crime Squad.
