Man admitted to hospital after being found outside shady flat suspected of illegal activity

A man who was found outside an empty flat at a Kwai Chung public housing estate that was suspected of being used for illegal activities was admitted into hospital yesterday after intervention from a district councillor, reports Oriental Daily.

The 52-year-old man, surnamed Choi, who apparently came out of an unoccupied Kwai Shing Estate flat in the early hours, was said to have been confronted by Kwai Ching District Councillor Rayman Chow Wai-hung and a member of the building’s Mutual Aid Committee. Choi then complained of being dizzy.

Police were called, and found that there were no suspicious circumstances. The man was sent to hospital.

Chow was alerted by residents that the empty home could possibly have been targeted for a robbery, or used as a “drug den”, according to the paper.

The flat’s previous occupant was said to have been a single mother of four who was sentenced to time in rehab. Her children had reportedly moved out or been placed under care.
