Man, 53, slips down Tai Po waterfall while taking photos, injures pelvis

A 53-year-old man had to be rescued from Mirror Pool in New Territories today after he slipped and fell down the waterfall while taking photos of the scenery.

At around 11am, the man, surnamed Yan, was hiking from Bride’s Pool to Wu Kau Tang with two of his colleagues from CityU, Oriental Daily reports.

While the group was passing Mirror Pool, Yan stopped to take photos, but accidentally slipped and fell about two metres down and landed in the one-metre-deep pool below. Yan’s fellow hikers, who had continued on without him, only realised what had happened to the shutterbug after he failed to catch up with them.

They called the police, who rushed to the scene with firefighters and helped retrieve Yan from the pool, as he was reportedly rendered immobile from injuries to his pelvis and waist. The 53-year-old has been taken to hospital for treatment.
