Man, 24, goes missing during Sai Kung junk party

Authorities are searching for a 24-year-old man who went missing at sea as a storm approached yesterday afternoon.

The man, surnamed Lo, and around 30 friends and colleagues were sailing Sai Kung at 11am yesterday for a junk party, HK01 reports.

The boat moored in Tai She Wan to allow members of the group, including Lo, to go swimming. At around 1pm, the group got back on the boat to avoid an oncoming storm, but Lo was nowhere to be seen.

After trying and failing to find him, Lo’s friends called the police at 2:30pm.

At least 10 police boats, four fireboats, and a Government Flying Services helicopter were deployed to search the area. As of 12pm today, Lo is still missing. He is reportedly a weak swimmer.
