Hong Kong users may not be eligible for refunds or exchanges on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone as per advice from the tech company in a worldwide announcement yesterday, reports Apple Daily.
Speaking to a reporter from the paper posing as a Galaxy Note 7 user, a Samsung Hong Kong customer service representative purportedly said the company’s local operations currently have no plans to offer refunds or exchanges for the smartphone.
When pressed by the reporter on why the company’s “worldwide” announcement doesn’t apply to Hong Kong, the rep reportedly said that Samsung’s U.S. side “has their own approach”.
Samsung Hong Kong has since stated that information regarding refunds or exchanges will be released at a later date.
The South Korean tech company announced that it would be halting global sales of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, and also urged users to turn off their devices and either obtain a refund or exchange.
The announcement follows numerous reports across the world of exploding Galaxy Note 7 devices.
