A man who went to a vaccination center for his first COVID-19 jab Wednesday was mistakenly given two BioNTech shots in a row.
The 65-year-old, surnamed Law, went to Yau Oi Sports Centre in Tuen Mun to get vaccinated at around 5 pm, according to HK01.
After the nurse injected Law a first time, he handed him a cotton ball to apply pressure on his arm.
The nurse then got up and when he returned, to Law’s surprise, inserted a needle into his arm again. “[I] need two shots?” Law said he asked, but the nurse reportedly did not respond.
Realizing the blunder later, the nurse walked over to Law, who was sitting in the resting area, and asked him in a panic if he had given him two shots.
Law was sent to the hospital emergency room, where he explained that he was just given two consecutive COVID-19 jabs. He was experiencing soreness in the arm and heightened blood pressure.

According to the Center for Health Protection, the two doses of the BioNTech vaccine should be administered at least 21 days apart. Getting jabbed more than twice is not recommended.
Law added that he has high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
“My family has reported [the incident] to the police and contacted the Department of Health,” Law told HK01.
Coconuts has reached out to the department, which according to local media is investigating the incident.
