Police arrested a man Monday night after he was spotted driving an electric scooter through Tseung Kwan O tunnel earlier in the day.
Facebook users shared photos in a Tseung Kwan O group showing the man, wearing a helmet and a bright yellow cross-body bag, riding on an electric scooter amid a sea of cars at around 2pm.
According to HK01, tunnel staff were alerted to the man around 2pm and stationed themselves outside the crossing to stop him as he exited on the Kwun Tong side. They took down the man’s details and arranged for him and his electric scooter to be brought back to Tseung Kwan O.

Police arrested the 30-year-old man in Kwun Tong at around 10:30pm on suspected charges of driving without a valid license, driving an unlicensed vehicle, and driving without third-party insurance.
The man is believed to be from New Zealand, HK01 reported.
Under Hong Kong law, electric scooters are classified as motor vehicles, meaning they must be licensed for use on roads. First-time violators face a fine of HK$5,000 (US$645) and three-months imprisonment, according to the Road Traffic Ordinance.
