Yesterday’s Black Rainstorm was an inconvenience, but while most of us got over it once our shoes dried, one coffee shop in Tsim Sha Tsui wasn’t quite so lucky after water damage from the storm caused it to go up in flames today.

The blaze began at around 9:45am when a circuit breaker tripped at the “Coffee Academics” café outside The One shopping center on Nathan Road. According to HK01, café staff noticed that the power supply had short circuited after the Black Rainstorm yesterday afternoon and called an electrician, but an LED light box caught on fire shortly after the inspection when a circuit breaker tripped.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and were able put out the flames within an hour.

No injuries were reported. Part of Carnarvon Road was closed off due to the fire and, obviously, the coffee shop isn’t open for business today (but their nearest location, in Harbour City, is).
