Somebody made a big mess.

Police are hunting a bus thief who left a trail of destruction yesterday morning after stealing a KMB double-decker and crashing it into a taxi, a car, and four transformer boxes in Tai Po.

Needless to say, all the vehicles involved were left in pretty bad shape, as can be seen in photos uploaded to Facebook, which show the crash site near Chai Kik village.

According to Apple Daily, the 8-kilometer joyride between Fanling and Tao Po fortunately didn’t lead to any injuries.

The bus — which operates route 79K from Sheung Shui to Ta Kwu Ling — was stolen after its driver finished his shift at 11pm and parked it in Fanling after topping up its fuel.

According to police, the man used a hidden button at the back of the bus to start the vehicle, leading officers to suspect the thief was “very familiar” with how the bus worked.

The crash occurred about 3:30am in the morning. By the time officers arrived, the suspect had fled.

The incident is similar to one in May, when a bus was stolen bus terminus in Wong Tai Sin, then crashed into roundabout near the Kwai Tsing container terminal.
