Police are on the lookout for a foreigner who stole a taxi, then abandoned it nearby, after its driver declined to take him as a passenger.

The short joy ride occurred about 2am this morning after the foreigner flagged the taxi in Causeway Bay and asked to be taken to Wan Chai, according to the 63-year-old cabbie surnamed Ng.

Ng told reporters that the man got into his car on Matheson Street while he was parked near a traffic light outside Times Square, on.cc reported.

Ng said he had difficulty understanding the man as he was speaking in English. He was also drunk, according to reports, which probably didn’t help things.

“I couldn’t understand where he wanted me to take him, it sounded like he wanted to go to Wan Chai,” he said.

The driver explained that, because he didn’t really know his way around Wan Chai, as his cab was a Kowloon taxi, he enlisted the help of a passing cabbie who agreed to take the passenger to his destination.

But amid all this back and forth, the passenger got other ideas — definitely not good ones.

He got out of the taxi and started hitting its door, making a sizeable dent on the driver’s side door, before getting into the driver’s seat and driving off, Apple Daily reported.

Ng’s taxi was found on Percival Street, a three minute stroll away from Times Square.

The suspect, thought to be between 40 to 50-years-old and between 1.7-1.8 meters tall, had fled.
