Drunk man snatches policeman’s gun, fires off three rounds, wounds two officers

A policeman was shot and another wounded when a drunk man grabbed an officer’s gun and fired this morning.

The officers were dealing with a family dispute at Kwong Lam Court in Sha Tin early this morning when the incident occurred about 5:30am, Apple Daily reported.

In an interview with reporters, police commissioner Stephen Lo Wai-chung said the suspect, who was drunk, managed to snatch one of the officer’s guns from his holster and pull the trigger.

“He fired three shots, and as a result, one of our officers was shot in the right hand and right leg, and another colleague was grazed by a bullet on his left leg,” Lo said.

“They’re in a stable condition and their injuries are not critical.”

According to RTHK, the injured policemen are being treated the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha TinThe suspect was also being treated in hospital.

He has been arrested on suspicion of wounding, Apple Daily reported.
