A dog owner who lost her pet for six days and was reunited with it on Tuesday night after social media came to the rescue has been arrested for slapping the man accused of stealing her dog.

According to Apple Daily, Audrey Kuziner, 38, became emotional and reportedly slapped the accused dog thief after she got her dog Pepita back at Kowloon Tong station on Tuesday evening.

Kuziner was arrested for common assault, and was sent to Kowloon City police station with the alleged dog thief.

The saga began last week when Pepita was taken by a man with a white cap and blue jacket in Sai Wan, Kennedy Town.

Kuziner offered a HK$20,000 (US$2,561) reward for anyone who could bring home the 6-year-old King Charles Spaniel, which also has a heart condition.

On Tuesday evening, a netizen posted on a Facebook group a photo of a man with a dog resembling Pepita walking around Mong Kok. Netizens, including a hk01 journalist, gave chase and followed the man and the dog from Mong Kok MTR to the Kowloon Tong station.
