Doctors ‘optimistic’ that 11-year-old Boy Scout hit by van will recover

Doctors are reportedly “optimistic” that a 11-year-old Boy Scout who was hit by a seven-seater van on Saturday will recover, reports say.

According to Apple Daily, doctors said the boy’s internal organs and brain were unharmed, and expect that he will not suffer any serious long-term complications.

The 11-year-old, surnamed Tsang, was Scouting in Tuen Mun on at around 4:40pm when the incident occurred. Sources on the scene told Apple Daily that Tsang was running across a pedestrian crossing on Heung Sze Wui Road after he accidentally let go of his balloon.

As he was running to retrieve the balloon, the traffic lights changed from green to red, and Tsang was struck by a moving car. The boy was sent flying from the impact and landed roughly 20 metres away.

Representatives from the Scout Association of Hong Kong have reportedly visited Tsang in hospital twice to check on him, and express their condolences to his family.
