Dead newborn baby found in plastic bag in Heng Fa Chuen

A cleaner of Paradise Mall in Heng Fa Chuen found a baby boy’s dead body wrapped in clothes, plastic and a recycling bag, with the umbilical cord still attached, in the ground floor ladies’ bathroom Sunday morning.

The police found bruises on the dead newborn baby which suggests that force may have been exerted on the baby, to pull him out, during the delivery, reports the SCMP.

There has been a string of abandoned newborn babies this year. Just last month a 28-week-old fetus, later declared dead at the hospital, was found by a cleaner in an empty train at Yau Ma Tei MTR station. CCTV footage revealed a 27-year-old Indonesian helper may have murdered her own child.

In March, a newborn baby was found abandoned at the ground-floor female toilet at Ruttonjee Hospital’s accident and emergency department.

In January another newborn girl, later certied dead at the scene, was wrapped in a shopping bag and found in the public toilet in North Point
