Construction worker arrested for murder of ‘prostitute girlfriend’ in Hong Kong

A construction worker thought to be the boyfriend of a murdered prostitute has been arrested at his home in Tin Shui Wai.

According to the SCMP, the 62-year-old had a relationship of several years with Zheng Shurong, 44, who was found dead in her Yuen Long flat last Friday with a curtain chord around her neck.

Zheng’s 19-year-old daughter called police after loosing contact with her mother.

Police believe Zheng previously lived at Leung King Estate in Tuen Mun after coming to Hong Kong in a sham marriage with a local several years ago.

She had only been in the subdivided flat in Lee Kwan Building on Yuen Long On Lok Road for around three months.

The unnamed construction worker has been arrested on suspicion of murder while investigations continue.

Police say Zheng had bruises on her face and neck, but cause of death has not yet been established.
