Coach crashes into Tung Chung Bus Terminus, 9 people injured

A New Lantao Bus (NLB) coach crashed into Tung Chung Bus Terminus this afternoon, briefly trapping the driver inside and reportedly causing injuries to a total of nine people.

The incident occurred at around 3pm, shortly after the 3M bus towards Mui Wo pulled out of the terminus. The bus was supposed to turn left, but the bus driver said he lost control and the vehicle veered towards the right, Apple Daily reports.

The front of the coach smashed into railings and roof of the partially covered terminus, trapping the driver inside. Passengers, eight of whom are reported to have been injured, disembarked the bus as they waited for the authorities.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and freed the bus driver roughly 40 minutes later. He and the injured passengers were all sent to hospital for treatment.

A witness, surnamed Yiu, told Apple Daily that all of the injured were “conscious and lucid”, and said the bus driver was lucky to get away with relatively minor injuries.
