A chilling video showing a school bus reversing on a busy road in Hong Kong and pushing a car back by at least a car’s length has been going viral.
In the 30-second dashcam footage posted on YouTube, the orange school bus can be seen reversing on what is believed to be Tuen Mun Road.
That resulted in the car behind being pushed back by at least a car’s length.
The driver of the car quickly reversed too, and can be seen getting out – unharmed – and walking toward the bus driver. However, the video does not show what happens after.
Based on the timestamp in the dashcam footage, the incident took place on Wednesday at 1:13pm.
According to the user who posted the YouTube video, the bus is a school bus for kindergarten or primary school students. It is unclear if there were pupils on board during the incident.
The user also said the driver was reversing after missing an intersection. From the footage, we can see that the vehicles were heading in the direction of Yuen Long, with the intersection toward Lam Tei in Tuen Mun on the left.
The bus appears to be one owned by Great Leader Bus Holdings, which has a depot in Lam Tei.
“If I were the driver of the car, I’d be scared to death after seeing the bus move back like this. There’s a real chance that the car would be crushed by the bus. This is scarier than horror movies,” said one netizen who commented on the YouTube video.
Another internet user told the owner of the video to save the clip as evidence, adding “the attitude of the school bus driver is very bad.”
