Canadian English teacher pleads not guilty to molesting 2 kindergarteners

A 56-year-old English teacher yesterday pleaded not guilty to two counts of indecently assaulting two 6-year-old girls at a kindergarten in Cheung Sha Wan.

The defendant, Johnson Robert Scott, made the not guilty plea at Kowloon City Magistrates’ Court.

HK01 reports the prosecution told the court that they would be calling four witnesses to give testimony, and that testimony from the two girls at the center of the case — named only as X and Y — will be pre-recorded.

Local media reports that the defendant has been teaching English since 2001, and the assault allegations involving the two girls stem from a classroom incident in July.

The trial is set begin on Jan. 21, and it is expected to last two days.
