A 72-year-old woman was sent to hospital after she was slammed into by a taxi that ran a red light in Ngau Tau Kok in the early hours of this morning.

Dash cam footage was sent to Apple Daily by a reader surnamed Tam, who said the incident took place at 1am near one of the tower blocks at the Kwun Tong Garden Estate on Ngau Tau Kok Road.

In the video, the traffic light for the pedestrian crossing turns green, and the elderly lady, surnamed Wong, can be seen crossing the road.

Ignoring, or failing to see, the red light was a 66-year-old cab driver surnamed Lung, whose red-topped cab drove straight through and slammed straight into Wong, who was thrown about two meters.

Tam told Apple Daily that a number of passers-by, including Lung, rushed to Wong’s aid, and emergency services arrived at the scene around three to four minutes later.

Wong was rushed to United Hospital with injuries to her pelvis, and the newspaper reports she is, thankfully, now in  stable condition.

Lung stayed at the scene to answer questions from police, but was not arrested, and was reportedly not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
