Police are on the hunt for three men who attacked a car with knives and wooden sticks in Yau Ma Tei last night, injuring its driver.

Officers confirmed to Coconuts HK that they were looking for three men between 20 and 30 years old, about 1.7 meters tall, and wearing black jackets, black trousers, and dark-colored hats.

The trio are wanted in connection with an attack that took place at around 7pm last night when a private car being driven by a 22-year-old man, surnamed Cheung, was driving along Battery Street towards Pak Hoi Street.

Dashcam footage shows Cheung’s car being cornered by two other vehicles, and three men emerging to attack the car using long-bladed butcher knives and wooden sticks, Ming Pao reports.

Police said the suspects then got back into their cars and fled towards Pak Hoi Street, while Cheung drove to Tsim Sha Tsui police station to to file a police report.

He was then sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a conscious state after sustaining unspecified injuries to his hand and back.

At around 2am this morning, police received a report that a car on Cheung Hang Road in Cheung Sha Wan had been set alight.

After a preliminary investigation, police said they believe the car was one of those involved in the attack.

It’s not clear from media reports exactly how many people were in the victim’s car. HK01 reports there were at least two people in the car at the time, while Ming Pao reports there were up to four.

Anti-triad police are currently investigating the case.
