Some Hong Kong fishermen snatched a baby boar from Poseidon’s clutches after the petite piglet was seen swimming through the sea all by its lonesome on Saturday.
The animal was spotted by a pedestrian taking a stroll in Quarry Bay on Saturday morning at around 11am, HK01 reports. Concerned, the man called for help, and nearby fishermen jumped into their boats and rescued the piglet from the water, then alerted the police.
The piglet appeared to have no injuries, and marine police took it to Kadoorie Farm for further inspection by vets.

Roni Wong, the convenor of the Wild Boar Concern Group, posted on Facebook that the piglet was just under 40 centimeters in length and between two and three months old. Its gender was not confirmed.

He added that female wild boars normally give birth to litters of four to six piglets, which follow their mother in their early years. The piglet found in quarry bay was most likely separated from its mom, he said.
He went on to express concern for the piglet’s welfare, saying such juveniles need their mother’s milk to develop a strong immune system.
A spokesperson from Kadoorie Farm told Coconuts HK via email that the wild boar had no physical problems or apparent injuries, weighing about 3.6 kilogrammes.
She said: “We will allow it 2-3 days to rest, and let it return to the nature after being fed and hydrated.”
