27-year-old man charged for cat abuse pleads guilty

A 27-year-old man was caught abusing a cat in a back alley in Tai Po for two hours in May this year. He has since pleaded guilty to cruelty to animals and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place at District Court in Wan Chai.

Footage of the man, surnamed Lee, apparently carrying out a series of abusive acts in an alley off Kwong Fuk Road, was captured on CCTV and presented in court as evidence, reports Apple Daily.

He was arrested two days after the incident, upon which he was found with two daggers.

Lee was reportedly filmed placing a cat in a box, which he was seen to hit and turn upside down. He also apparently shone a bright light at the trapped catwhile throwing sharp objects, like a plier and a metal rod, into the box.

Other allegations against Lee include “strapping the cat to a leather belt and dragging it on the ground”, and “thrice throwing the cat on an approximately two-metre high canopy”, before closing it and causing the cat to fall on the ground.

Unfortunately, the police were not able to locate the cat.

Lee reportedly said that he had carried out the acts as “revenge for being bitten by a stray cat”.

His trial continues.
