Valet killed in Kowloon City assault, 2 suspects arrested

Police have reclassified an alleged triad-related wounding case that took place in Kowloon City last night to murder after the victim succumbed to his injuries died. Two suspects have been arrested.

The 35-year-old victim, surnamed Ho, who is reported by local media to have a triad background, was a valet for two seafood restaurants in the area. Apple Daily reports that a territorial dispute allegedly triggered at least two men to attack the 35-year-old on South Wall Road near Prince Edward Road West at around 7pm.

Footage taken by an eyewitness shows that Ho was punched in the face at least nine times in 12 seconds until he fell on the ground.

A passerby who approached Ho in an attempt to help was apparently also slapped in the face by one of the attackers, while other diners who tried to stop the attack were reportedly ignored. Ho was subsequently taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and required immediate surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain, SCMP reports. He was certified dead at 8:35 this morning.

Police arrested two men, aged 21 and 35, in Kwai Chung and Wong Tai Sin, shortly before the victim’s death.
