A 19-year-old female high school student is in critical condition after being struck by a minibus in North Point this morning.

The student, surnamed Wong, was crossing King’s Road just outside the North Point MTR station just after 10am when she was hit by a green-top minibus and trapped underneath its wheels.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and found Wong badly injured and unconscious. She was transferred to Queen Mary Hospital by about 12:30pm, and remained in critical condition as of 3pm, Apple Daily reports.

The newspaper also reported that, just before noon today, police arrested the 46-year-old minibus driver, a man surnamed Cheung, on suspicion of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.

Apple Daily reports that Wong is a student at Man Kiu College in North Point, and was heading back to school at the time she was hit.

Although school is out for the summer, she and her friends were studying on campus.

When Wong didn’t return or respond to her messages, her friends called her phone, which was picked up by a police officer at the scene.
