A 16-year-old girl who falsely reported being raped by a 19-year-old man was sentenced to 15 months of probation at Kwun Tong Law Courts yesterday.
The girl was charged with knowingly misleading a police officer after investigations uncovered that she had falsely accused the man of sexually assaulting her in April. He was unconditionally released, Sing Tao Daily said.
In court, the prosecution said the girl had consented to intercourse with the man, whom she met the day before their sexual encounter.
She was said to have been “afraid to tell her girlfriend and family what happened”, which led to her filing the false report.
