13-year-old sent to juvenile detention over string of Best Mart 360 vandalism acts

A 13-year-old boy has been sent to a juvenile detention center over a string of vandalism incidents at chain store Best Mart 360.

The boy, who is Indian, was early found guilty of three counts of criminal damage. He was handed the verdict at the Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts Friday morning.

According to Apple Daily, the 13-year-old damaged store items at two Best Mart 360 outlets in Tin Shui Wai on three days in February.

The first two counts relate to vandalism at the outlet in Fortune Kingswood, a shopping mall, on Feb. 1 and 2, involving the tampering of bags of snacks, cookie tins and wine bottles.

He was also convicted of a criminal damage charge over a vandalism act at Tin Yiu Plaza on Feb. 24.

A representative of the minor apologized on behalf of the 13-year-old in court. Magistrate Kelly Shiu said the boy should be apologizing to his mother instead, and told him not to create any more trouble for her.
