Why Pot Matters: Screening Coconuts TV docuseries HIGHLAND at Hive Studios

Ever wonder why marijuana is such a divisive issue? To some it’s just a fun drug to try in college, to others it’s the source of life-changing medicine. Whatever your stance, it’s obvious that here in Asia, it’s still taboo to even mention marijuana in society.

And with the recent political changes in Thailand, the laws have become even more strict when it comes to pot. However, the question of “should marijuana be legal?” and “what are the benefits of this drug?” are still debated in the capital of Bangkok, and beyond.

These are the questions that inspired the team at Coconuts TV to produce Highland: Thailand’s Marijuana Awakening.

Highland is set in Thailand, a country with a long and complex history of marijuana. The docuseries depicts a lesser-known side of the Southeast Asian nation. Far from the tourists and the tropical beaches, there is a growing community of Thai people fighting a battle to legalize marijuana.

The docuseries is split into three episodes: Origin, Medical, and Recreational. But, since it’s not available for on-demand viewing here in Hong Kong, we’ve decided to screen the whole series over beers, food, and cookies at Hive Studios. Plus, everyone gets to take home a goodie bag! So… come hungry/thirsty!

For HKD100, the ticket includes:

– Admission

– Exclusive screening (Highland is not available in Hong Kong!)

– Food provided by Burger Joys

– Beer provided by Seven Brews

– Cookies courtesy of Homie Cookies

And a goodie bag, thanks to 1800-PARADISE!
