You Must Love This: Tony-award winning EVITA is coming to Hong Kong for the first time this May!

PRESENTED BY

If you’re into powerful, passionate stories of iconic heroines, delightfully composed music, and magnificent production value, well, you must love this. For the first time ever, Hongkongers will be belting out those iconic lyrics that Madonna sang oh-so-many years ago, because the musical EVITA is finally in the building.

The musical masterpiece was created by Tim Rice, the three-time Tony Award winner and three-time Oscar-winning lyricist (whose magnificent works includes Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Beauty and the Beast, Aida and more), and the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber. We’ve lost count of the awards he has received, but his other notable works includes The Phantom of the Opera, Sunset Boulevard, Cats, School of Rock and more. You might have heard of them?

The musical won the very first Tony Award for Best Musical when it launched in 1980, and the fervor hasn’t slowed down since.

EVITA is based on the true story of María Eva Duarte de Perón, the wife of Argentina’s President, Juan Perón. The story portrays her life, from her days as a poor schoolgirl dreaming of becoming a famous actress, to her eventual role in politics and untimely death. It follows her as she strives for fame, makes it to Buenos Aires, and becomes the spiritual leader of the nation and the beloved first lady of the Argentine people.

She was loved, hated, analyzed and criticized, but you can’t deny that she accomplished so much against all odds. How, you ask? You’ll have to find out yourself, but we promise the show will leave you in awe.

Besides the powerful and passionate plot, EVITA boasts world-class director Hal Prince, winner of 21 Tony Awards (wonder where he keeps them all!), and a cast including Emma Kingston (Les Misérables in London’s West End, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Grease) who was personally chosen by Tim Rice, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Hal Prince as Eva, Jonathan Roxmouth (The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Sunset Boulevard, Beauty and the Beast, Grease, West Side Story, Sweeney Todd) as Che Guevara, and Robert Finlayson (The Phantom of the Opera, Cats, High School Musical, West Side Story) for Perón.

Lose yourself in beautifully composed classics like You Must Love Me, Oh What a Circus, High, Flying Adored, and of course, Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.

According to James Cundall, Producer, and CEO of Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, “EVITA is one of THE classic musicals of the 20th century – it truly promises to be an unmissable theatrical event.” Don’t cry for us, Hong Kong, if you miss the opportunity to see it live!

And when something really good is happening in Hong Kong, you know we want to share it with you! (You must love us, huh?) We’re giving away 2 pairs of A-res tickets!
